Technology at a Glance

PK-1st Grade:
Fostering the basic skills necessary for the successful integration of computer use in the framework of a classroom

Our PK-1st grade students:

R

Introduce computer hardware, its use and care, and develop and maintain appropriate Technology Lab “Rules of Conduct”.

R

Develop the student’s hand/eye coordination, mouse and keyboard skills via computer games and exercises designed specifically for that purpose.

R

Master computer logon and logout procedures using assigned user name and password.

R

Master grade appropriate “Math Facts” on a computer based program designed to foster fluency.

R

Discuss and understand how Christian values should guide use of Technology.

2nd-3rd Grade:
Utilizing the computer to supplement and fortify concepts and skills presented in the classroom.

Our 2nd and 3rd grade Technology students:

R

Continue the development of “Math Facts” fluency by transitioning from a multiple choice format to one in which the student is required to “keyin” the correct answer.

R

Use Technology to present activities to enhance fact based knowledge to supplement that presented in the classroom.

R

Familiarization of the students with the layout and basic functions of the computer keyboard and the presentation and practice of rudimentary typing skills.

R

Type a paragraph in Technology class on an assigned topic that references two sources that the students are taught to access online.

R

Practice Christian values in working collaboratively with Technology.

4th-6th Grade:
Acquiring the skill set necessary to foster efficient use of technology for purposes of creativity, research, and communication.

Our 4th through 6th grade Technology students:

R

Understand importance and implications of school’s Acceptable use Policy and Internet Safety and good behavior.

R

Present information in simple multimedia presentation using Google Docs and Slides along with understanding file and folders on Google Drive.

R

Develop understanding of basics of computer programming and coding.

R

Demonstrate touch-typing techniques while increasing speed and maintaining accuracy.

R

Establish understanding of safe and Christian use of technology by competing in the FBI Safety Online program.

7th-8th Grade:
Broadening of the skill sets necessary to foster proficient independent use of technology for purposes of creativity, research, and communication.

Our 7th and 8th grade Technology students:

R

Demonstrate independent use of technology as a tool for acquiring, analyzing, communicating, and organizing information through self paced projects.

R

Integrate word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software into effective presentations.

R

Learn coding and programming of a specific code language.

R

Gain a basic understanding of financial literacy.

R

Establish understanding of safe and Christian use of technology by competing in the FBI Safety Online program.
